Something urges the writer to write
Meter, verse, free form or whatever,
To do such a thing, like a blight

Something urges the writer to write
Beyond hope of publishing ever,
To do such a thing, with such might

Something urges the writer to write
Mediocrity calling, verging on Palaver,
To do such a thing, it is his right

Something urges the writer to write
No Eternity summoned, now or forever
To do such a thing, beyond his sight

Something urges the writer to write
Diving muse or something less clever
To do such a thing, the writer's plight

Something urges the writer to write
Notes spastic, but truth, at least his, forever
To do such a thing, it is his right
To do such a thing, beyond his sight.

[The edit was because I had one stanza too few for a villanelle, so I had to add another.]
